In the sun :
1. Camping Village Šimuni on the island of Pag (Croatia)
Stretched along the Croatian coast, the island of Pag is accessible by a bridge. But at the Šimuni campsite you can also arrive by boat since the site has no less than 2 kilometers of seaside with jetties. This coast facing the Adriatic Sea is dominated by pebbles but also has several sandy areas. This is a campsite where it is pleasant to stay in winter or in low season because it is there that you can best appreciate the quality of the site and the climate of the islands of the Dalmatian coast, between pines and olive trees. The wellness and fitness offer at the Šimuni campsite is distinguished by a salt beach that is said to be unique in the world: it is about lying down in a salty environment that is said to revive ancient know-how, to which is added today a Thai massage offer. While the therapeutic value is not guaranteed, the change of scenery and the care given to this space meet the expectations of the most demanding. We should also point out the quality and the uniqueness of the cuisine offered in the restaurant. Open all year round.

2. Yelloh! Turiscampo village in the Algarve (Portugal)
The French and the Portuguese certainly like to get together, and not just on the football pitch! The Algarve, the southernmost province of Portugal, has become a holiday destination, even a place of residence for many French people. It boasts a very pleasant climate and a lifestyle and gastronomy that suit the French very well. The oceanic nature of the coast mitigates the excessive heat of summer, while in winter it is mild, with average temperatures of 15 degrees in January. Very slightly set back from the coast, 4 km from the small seaside town of Lagos, not far from the famous Cape Saint-Vincent, the Turiscampo campsite, part of the Leading Campings chain, offers pleasantly terraced pitches with direct water and drainage connections, or rental mobile homes and chalets. As for services, a wellness area completes the aquatic area. French is also widely spoken at reception. Open all year round.

3. Union Lido Camping Lodging & Hotel in Veneto (Italy)
A campsite with more than 3,000 pitches spread over 60 hectares, this might seem worrying at first glance, and yet this site is both one of the largest and best campsites in Europe! A member of the Leading Campings chain, this establishment is a real small town with 1.2 km of beach, a water park just behind the beach, and a unique swimming pool thanks to its beaches and sandy bottoms on the other side of the site. Not to mention the fitness trail in a protected pine forest right by the sea. As for shops, the choice is incredible with a real pedestrian street where you will find amazing shops on the campsite such as a jewelry store or a shoe store! In fact, this campsite offers its share of amazing new features every year. The organization is up to the offer with an exceptionally efficient reception to quickly process arrivals, the vast majority of which are without reservation. Let's add that it is located very close to Venice, to the east of the lagoon. This is also the best option for anyone who wants to camp near Venice. Open from late April to early October.

4. Camping Enzo Stella Maris in Veneto (Italy)
If the very large Venetian campsites worry you, Enzo Stella Maris is on a more family-oriented scale and therefore more familiar to French customers. 300 meters of beach with a beautiful seaside promenade and great attention paid to vegetation and flowers, the recipe is certainly a winner! Aquatic area, indoor pool, multiple playgrounds compare the standing of this campsite to that of the large neighboring sites. The road that borders it leads to the Punta Sabbioni pier from where you take the boat to Venice, St. Mark's Square. However, be careful to take into account the minimum stay imposed of 7 days in high season and 3 days in low season. This is a common practice in the sites of the Venetian coast, even less posh ones. Open from mid-April to mid-October.

5. Playa Montroig Camping Resort in Catalonia (Spain)
On the Costa Daurada, beyond Tarragona, where the thermometer takes on summer colors from spring, Playa Montroig (Leading Campings) offers an 800-meter beach bordering the campsite, lush vegetation and impeccable cleanliness. And yet we could almost forget this triptych which made the initial success of the site to highlight the incredible facilities of this very large campsite with a very elegant aquatic area, an impeccable wellness and fitness center, attractive and well-kept shops. Let's not forget either the sanitary facilities that live up to this quality. One regret remains with the railway which separates the campsite into two parts and under which a 3.45 meter high passage has been built allowing access to most recreational vehicles. Fortunately everything is done to hide it and limit the nuisance. Open from mid-March to the end of October.
Playa Montroig Camping Resort in Spain
6. Camping La Torre del Sol in Catalonia (Spain)
La Torre del Sol plays in the same category as its neighbor Playa Montroig. It offers somewhat the same advantages with a beach bordering the campsite for 900 meters, beautiful vegetation marked by magnificent palm trees and unusual facilities. The lagoon-like swimming pool and the pirate island designed for the little ones appeal to families with children. Fitness or fitness, particularly a huge whirlpool for parents, are also on the program at this site created by a French family and whose entire staff is very Francophile. A cinema room and a rich entertainment program are in tune with this superb establishment. Here again, the site is crossed by the railway, as hidden as possible and under which one passes with a track limited to 3.10 meters in height. Open from mid-March to the end of October.

7. Centro Vacanze Isuledda in Sardinia (Italy)
20 km from Porto Cervo, the Sardinian resort frequented by jet-set billionaires, the Isuledda campsite enjoys a magnificent location on a small peninsula that provides dual access to the sea, with a private beach adorned with coves on one side, and a superb, deeper, more open beach on the other. Many pitches on the terraces planted with eucalyptus and pine trees offer a view of the sea. One wonders why this campsite, which is well-maintained with satisfactory services, is not among the best in the major foreign guides, who prefer other uniform and unpoetic Sardinian sites. It certainly does not have a water park, but what good is it with such a coast and such a climate? Open from mid-March to early November.
Centro Vacanze Isuledda in Sardinia
8. Zaton Holiday Resort in Istrie (Croatia)
In Croatia, the most famous and sought-after campsites are in the Istria region. Further east, the coast is just as beautiful to discover. The Zaton Holiday Resort campsite (Leading Campings) is located just before Zadar, a historic city well worth a visit. It is also very close to the small town of Nin, whose ancient center, several thousand years old, is built on an island connected by two bridges in the middle of a very picturesque lagoon. Two essential excursions, even if the quality of the campsite encourages you to stay put. Here, we really appreciate the sandy beach in a country where pebbles and rocks dominate. As in many Croatian campsites, you can also come by boat or bring your own boat and leave from the campsite's jetty. With over a thousand pitches, this is a campsite on the scale of Croatian establishments, which also translates into a very wide range of services and shops. Be careful: this is far from a small family campsite! Open from the beginning of May to the end of September.

9. Camping Resort Lanterna in Istrie (Croatia)
This Croatian campsite belongs to the prestigious European campsite chain: Leading Campings. It is located near the beautiful town of Poreč in Istria and borders the sea for three kilometers. This large establishment (3000 pitches) offers numerous bare pitches with a beautiful view of the Adriatic, a wide range of modern mobile homes installed in themed villages and high-end tents for a glamping stay. It offers all the services of a real holiday village (water park, seawater swimming pool, direct access to Adria Beach, kids' club, wellness area, restaurant with terrace, supermarket, various attractions and activities). Open from April to October.
Camping Resort Lanterna in Croatia
10. Camping Poljana on the island of Lošinj (Croatia)
The two islands of Cres and Lošinj are not connected to the mainland by a bridge, which protects their island authenticity. But the ferry crossing is quick and fully justified if you're prepared to drive on sometimes narrow roads before stopping at the campsite. And what a reward when you arrive in a setting like that of Camping Poljana! The site is that of an isthmus where the island narrows, so that the sea is on both sides of the campsite. Suffice to say, it is always at the end of the driveway and visible from most of the terraced pitches. This is the true luxury of this campsite, which offers great amenities without playing in the range of the immense Croatian sites. And the atmosphere of the small town of Mali Lošinj, like that of Cres further north, is particularly seductive. It's a cocktail of Venetian charm, Slavic soul, and Mediterranean ambiance. Open from mid-March to early October.

11. Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark in South Denmark (Denmark)
What drives the Danes to flock to campsites on the west coast when the North Sea water is cool and the beaches windy? Surely a taste for the outdoors different from what we know further south, but also the quality of the campsites. The Hvidbjerg Beach Holiday Park in Blävand, a member of the Leading Campings chain, is the best example with its indoor swimming pool with tropical accents and especially its incredible wellness area with whirlpools and jacuzzis of all kinds and fitness rooms. More simply, we also appreciated the architecture of the toilets and thatched roofs in the tradition of the region's farms. In these Scandinavian grounds, the French happily discover the spaces open to all to cook, wash dishes or have lunch in a neat and friendly setting that does not exist in the campsites of southern Europe. On the other hand, if you go to the restaurant, be prepared to pay a lot for a relatively ordinary meal. Other countries, different customs! Open from mid-March to the end of October.

12. Daftö Resort in West Gothia (Sweden)
If you want to discover Sweden, whether it's the fjords or the midnight sun, a stop at the Daftö Resort in Strömstad will delight your children without leaving you bored. Daftöland, a real amusement park with its pirate village within the campsite itself, breaks with the relative Scandinavian monotony of the place. While the chalets and pitches are not all hidden by vegetation, the sea view is often unobstructed and the quality of the site is undeniable. For swimming, you will have the choice between the campsite's three freshwater pools, but you will also have direct access to the sea via wooden pontoons, sandy beaches or grassy areas. Open to residential and rental customers, with even a bed and breakfast service in the purest hotel style, it is a very complete holiday center, which makes it a recognized address throughout Scandinavia. Also note that winter campsite openings are not uncommon in Scandinavia. This campsite, among others, is open year-round.

13. Camping TerSpegelt in North Brabant (Netherlands)
The Dutch are the kings of camping and come in large numbers to French campsites. This makes you want to visit their campsites and, moreover, several are worth the detour: in the south of the country, near Belgium, the Ter Spegelt campsite is the best example of what the Dutch know how to do when it comes to welcoming families. The aquatic area and the large children's playground with its gold prospector track are a model of the genre! The site has several bodies of water, which allows many pitches to be directly on the water's edge, some even have their own jetty. A car-free area guarantees perfect tranquility and security. This, among other things, is a testament to Dutch know-how. The program of activities and entertainment is so varied that many vacationers will not leave the campsite. However, this establishment is hardly suitable for passing customers with a minimum stay of 7 nights in high season. Open from mid-March to the end of October.

14. Camping Hopfensee in Bavaria (Germany)
In southern Bavaria, on the edge of a lake and with the Alpine peaks as a horizon, the Hopfensee campsite enjoys an exceptional setting. But the quality of the site is only one of the arguments for this site fully dedicated to well-being. A member of the Leading Campings chain, it stands out for the most astonishing offer in terms of fitness and body care. We move from the typically Bavarian decor of the campsite to the oriental ambiance worthy of a palace from the Arabian Nights of the spa and wellness area. On the program: an offer full of scents with baths and massages of all kinds. The immense games and sports room is suitable for stays in all weathers, as is the indoor pool which guarantees water at 31°C in winter. And if you need more reasons to choose this campsite, know that in both winter and summer, the nearest ski area is 10 km away, and the famous Neuschwanstein Castle is very close. Open from mid-December to early November.

15. Europacamping Nommerlayen (Luxembourg)
Luxembourg is better known for its banks and cheap petrol than for its tourist attractions, but it is a small country bordering France that is worth exploring. Nommern is located in a region often called Luxembourgish Switzerland because the terrain and rocks give it a mountain feel. It is precisely at the foot of the forest and the rocks that the Europacamping site of the Leading Campings chain is located. This large campsite plays the space card with, for example, a real football pitch and a super slide that follows the slope. Beyond the classic entertainment, among which we note a very nice bowling alley, Europacamping also offers a wellness area with sauna, hammam, whirlpool bath and an interesting range of body treatments. Open from the beginning of March to the beginning of November.

In the snow, in the mountains :
16. Caravanpark Sexten in Trentino-Alto Adige (Italy)
This is the most incredible of all mountain campsites in Europe, both in winter and summer! It is located in the province of Bolzano, in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige, also known as South Tyrol, a stone's throw from the Austrian border, where German is spoken as much as Italian. A member of the Leading Campings chain, it is a truly exceptional campsite at an altitude of 1,500 meters in the heart of the Dolomites. Discovering the fitness facilities, the swimming pool, and even the toilets is worth the trip alone! This is a setting in which every detail is cared for beyond what one can imagine. The attention paid to the architecture of the buildings in the purest Tyrolean tradition, but also to each piece of furniture, even to each bouquet of flowers, leaves one speechless. Despite this incredible standing, rental accommodation remains marginal compared to bare pitches. Open all year round.
Caravanpark Sexten in Italy
17. Holiday paradise Natterer See in Tyrol (Austria)
The Natterer See is not strictly speaking a caravan park, despite the sumptuous mountain scenery it offers its guests, as the ski resorts are not nearby. But it is a year-round site located just ten kilometers from the historic center of Innsbruck. While its sanitary facilities house the most beautiful imaginable collection of model caravans and old camping photos, people come mainly for the landscape, the lake and its water fun located inside the campsite and the easy access to Innsbruck via a good bus connection. It is even understandable why some tourists abandon Innsbruck's hotels to rent a bungalow here among the campers. Open all year.
Camping Natterer See in Austria
18. Alpencamping Nenzing in Vorarlberg (Austria)
Even if you have already seen incredible sanitary facilities in many campsites, if you do not know those of the Nenzing site, you cannot imagine them! When you enter for the first time, you think it is a mistake: the first room takes the form of an ecomuseum room with characters and furniture from yesteryear, from there you access the showers, sinks and toilets. The terraced pitches guarantee a superb view of the mountains. The car must be left in the parking lot below after installation. The panoramic swimming pool, the wellness area with sauna and the typical restaurant make this small campsite (165 pitches) member of the Leading Campings chain a real gem. Located at an altitude of 700 meters. Open all year round.
Alpencamping Nenzing in Austria
19. Experience Comfort Camping Aufenfeld in Tyrol (Austria)
If you're going with your children or grandchildren, this is a campsite they're sure to love! We're not talking about a playground here anymore, but rather a real fun adventure park integrated into the campsite. This includes a western village with a gold prospector's trail and the most incredible climbing wall you could imagine in a campsite. Of course, the indoor and outdoor pools, the 60-meter water slide and the outdoor lake are among the advantages of this site which, in winter, even has a ski lift right on its doorstep. The only regret is the nearby road, but a noise barrier protects the site. A relaxation and silence room above the pool also allows you to take a break from the screams of children. Member of the Leading Campings chain. Open from January 1st to early November.
